ACTAsia launched the “Fur Free China” program in 2011, and it has been gaining momentum ever since. ACTAsia collaborates with 48 grassroots animal welfare groups, each with a strong connection to its own local community.
We inform people about how fur is produced in Asia, and promote humane fashion alternatives. “Fur Free China” encourages individuals to take responsibility for their choices, by understanding how their purchases can make a real difference to the welfare of animals.
Working with the media, local animal protection groups, and celebrity ambassadors for compassion, we document the industrial practises used in fur production, which result in the suffering of many species of animals – including cats, dogs, rabbits, foxes, mink and more.
We reach consumers through media campaigns, public events and fashion shows, and publicise our message through press conferences, and with the support of celebrities, singers, models and pop stars.
ACTAsia is the Chinese representative of the Fur Free Alliance, an international coalition of animal protection organizations working to end the exploitation of animals for their fur. As part of this coalition, ACTAsia recruits companies and designers to join the international Fur Free Retailer scheme.
